March 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Britain’s Royal Air Force has ordered over 700 Avlite Systems radio controlled solar taxiway lights from Aviation Renewables Corp’s UK partner company Systems Interface Ltd.  The RAF plan to use the Avlite solar taxiway lights on one of their bases in the United Kingdom.  With a major long term construction project coming up the base required lighting that they could rely on to provide standard lighting levels year round without any electrical infrastructure.

This base had performed long term tests of other solar lights and they have found that the Avlite AV70-RF lights outperformed when compared to all the alternatives.  In addition the RAF needed the central control that the Avlite lights provided via the intelligent mesh network radio control.  “The RAF have taken a very close look at the alternatives and have decided on the AV70 lights based on the lower cost of ownership provided by the lower capitol costs, better performance, full radio control of the lights from the tower, as well as the industry’s best warrantee” says Systems Interface’s Eddie Lacina.

Included with the order are the Avlite provided frangible mounts allowing the RAF to easily install the solar taxiway lights in what will be Europe’s largest solar taxiway lighting installation.  “Providing industry standard levels of lighting with a solar aviation light throughout the UK’s low solar winters provides a challenge to which only Avlite Systems lights have been able to prove successful.” says ARC Aviation Renewables Corp. Christopher Zegger-Murphy.
