The Swank Chiropractic Sports Medicine & Wellness Team set new personal bests at the 2010 Tobacco Road Half Marathon held in Cary, NC on March 21, 2010. The sold out 13.1 mile event attracted athletes from North Carolina and surrounding states. Dr. Timothy and Vicki Swank, along with Jennifer Best, Kimberly Ledlow, Ray and Carol Szafranski, and Karyn Long ran the first time event starting at 7:00 am.
The Half Marathon is more than seven miles on the American Tobacco Trail. There is a limit of 3000 runners. The course is set on rolling hills the first 3 miles and flat and fast after with a downhill finish. The course is certified and the full is a Boston Qualifier. Both the half and full marathon races started at the USA Baseball/Thomas Brooks Park and continue together for 3 miles after which the full marathon travels South on the ATT and the half going North.
Proceeds from the Half Marathon benefit the Haiti Relief efforts through the Red Cross.
