Over 40 beautiful oil paintings will be available for purchase at the Art and Collectables Show featuring the oil paintings of Elsie Alexander.
English artist Elsie Alexander (1912-1997) began her artistic career during a visit to the US in 1958 drawing in charcoal and pastels. Upon her return to England she continued her passion and began painting in both acrylics and oils. Mrs. Alexander found her preferred style to be impressionism having felt the influence of such greats as Van Gogh, Monet, Cezanne, and Manet. It is easy to see the passion for color and impressionistic movement in her many landscapes, still lifes, etc. Mrs. Alexander studied with various artists in London including Victor Askew, Hyman J. Warsager, John Wynne-Morgan and Gordon Benett. Each of these worked in different styles, but their combined artistic work added to Mrs. Alexander’s personal style.
Mrs. Alexander exhibited her works in London and the surrounding provinces and received many awards for her work including: Vellum and Freedom of the Painters and Stainers Company and Freedom of the City of London for paintings exhibited in the Guildhall and also best Painting in Exhibition by the Painters and Stainers, London.
Proceeds will be donated to Montville Pet Parents to help care for animals currently at the Montville Animal Shelter and to help build the new shelter.
