Carpet and Rug Institute Awards Chem-Dry Their New Platinum Seal of Approval

In recognition of industrial excellence, the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) has expanded its testing and certification program, awarding Chem-Dry its Platinum Seal of Approval.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar 23, 2010 -
The Bronze, Silver and Gold levels of recognition established by the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) was implemented, not for the purposes of forming strategic alliances, marketing rights, or franchise opportunities, but to encourage improvement and raise the bar of the industry’s standard.   Carpet manufactures want consumers to be happy with their carpet, including carpet cleaning and maintenance.

“Using Seal of Approval certified cleaning products helps protect your carpet investment, keeps your facility looking great and meets carpet warranty requirements…. Only the best products can pass the CRI Seal of Approval testing and certification program. Products that pass these rigorous standards have proven cleaning effectiveness.”

The Platinum level of recognition is awarded to the products, equipment, service, or combination thereof efficiently removing more than 90% of soil from the carpet. This measurement is not taken casually; CRI utilizes NASA enhanced x-ray fluorescence technology and stringent testing criteria including water removal, texture retention, pH balance, re-soil rate, optical brighteners and colorfastness, to evaluate carpet cleaning effectiveness.

To measure how well an extractor recovers water, the test carpet sample is weighed before and after the standardized process to determine how much water remains. Chem-Dry’s avant-garde process of combining natural cleaning ingredients and carbonation removes the soil and grime at award winning levels, using only one-fifth to one-tenth of the moisture steam cleaners’ use, without leaving behind the layer of soap, grit and excess moisture.

When the cleaning and extraction has been done, dried and tested, the surface is checked and measured for appearance change in the carpet pile using CRI’s five-point Texture Retention Reference Scales, which provide a visual aid in assessing appearance change in carpet. Because Chem-Dry’s Green Certified cleaners are applied sparingly and without high pressure, the remaining testing criteria, including pH Balance, optical brighteners, colorfastness, texture, retention and re-soil were easily met, expectations were exceeded, the Carpet and Rug Institute’s  Platinum Seal of Approval is awarded for Chem-Dry’s CTS 330 and 450 systems when used with Chem-Dry’s Green Certified Natural Cleaner.
