It is a conductive carbon sheathed polyester fiber, which can be mixed with other fibers to reduce the electrical resistivity of the resultant material. Non-woven conductive and epitropic fabrics are also designed to safely dissipate the buildup of static electricity while providing excellent air flow. Approximately, 1% epitropic fiber prevents discomfort from static in everyday clothing and carpets; about 2-5% epitropic fiber is necessary for fabrics for industrial filters and safety work wear. With the new safety and environmental laws in some cases your company will be forced to switch from your standard filter media to an Epitropic blend. Epitropic is a non-woven material produced by combining layers (or batts) of loose fibers on a needle punch loom utilizing barbed needles to interlock the fibers.
