Green Author At It Again With New Books for Kids

Green Author Celebrating Environmental Education Month With New BOok

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar 23, 2010 -
As part of Environmental Education month, Green Author Jennifer Keats Curtis will be visiting elementary schools to talk to students about wildlife, children's roles in helping animals, and how she combines language arts and science to write realistic fiction.

Curtis' newest illustrated children’s book, Baby Owl’s Rescue (Sylvan Dell Publishing), features a brother-and-sister duo plus a wildlife rehabilitator mom who know just what to do when they find a Great Horned Owlet that has fallen out of its nest.

Prompted by the incredible work of real-life rehabilitator Kathy Woods, who runs the Phoenix Wildlife Center, the book is lushly illustrated by renowned artist Laura Jacques. (For more information, please see http://www.sylvandellpublishing.com/Owl.php.)

Known for diligently researching her topic and interviewing real experts, including children working to help preserve and protect local wildlife, Curtis has developed a knack for teaching young children about important ecological issues and what they can do to help.

In addition to Baby Owl’s Rescue, the long-time journalist’s informational and educational books include the award-winning Oshus and Shelly Save the Bay; the Henry Bergh Children’s Book Award Finalist Turtles in My Sandbox (Sylvan Dell, 2006); and last year’s Osprey Adventure (Tidewater Publishing, 2008). Saving Squeak: A River Otter’s Tale (Schiffer Publishing) is scheduled to debut in 2010 followed her first creative nonfiction, SEAHORSES (Henry Holt), in 2011.
