March 23, 2010 - PRLog -- The solution is now available to the local market via SMC Networks South Africa. Paul Luff, country manager at SMC Networks SA, says the level of functionality, versatility and capacity of the new solution means its introduction holds substantial value for local users.

“It reflects the commitment that SMC Networks, as a global leading network solution supplier, invests in releasing product that makes a measurable difference to users. We are not only combining feature rich functionality, we are assisting users with a level of flexibility that allows them to leverage off multimedia applications and helps them sustain levels of output by being in a position to capitalise on innovation through effective change management,” says Luff. “Essentially the network is able to adapt and grow according to the changing needs of the organisation.”

The SMCWEBS-N’s multi-mode functionality means that it can deliver 300Mbps wireless access, connect multiple Ethernet devices of any kind simultaneously and extend the range of wireless networks into difficult coverage areas.

With Access Point mode, users can add high-speed 300Mbps wireless connectivity to their network and get enough bandwidth to stream video and audio simultaneously, play online games, transfer large files, make VoIP calls and surf the Internet.

In Ethernet Client mode, the SMCWEBS-N makes it easy to connect multiple Ethernet enabled devices of any type - including gaming consoles, digital media players or Network Attached Storage. In addition it works independently of operating systems, without the need for separate drivers – making it ideal for Mac, Linux and legacy Windows users.

Using Repeater mode, support for Wireless Distribution System (WDS) means that the SMCWEBS-N can significantly extend the range of a wireless network – and there is also a bridge mode for connecting a remote LAN segment to an Internet connection.

Housed in a smart white design that will appeal to style-conscious users, the SMCWEBS-N is IEEE802.11n certified, fully compatible with Wireless-G (802.11g) and Wireless-B (802.11b) standards and includes advanced MIMO technology that delivers exceptional speed and range – even before the Repeater functionality is deployed.

With security being a key consideration, the SMCWEBS-N supports the latest WPA and WPA2 wireless encryption standards and security can also be set up easily using Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) via push button or PIN configuration.

“This is an incredibly feature-rich product that also comes with a great looking design for a very competitive price,” said Frank Emmerlich, Product Marketing Manager for SMC Networks. “Designed to get the very best out of multimedia applications, it is also perfect for making sure your network stays flexible as your needs change.”

Very easy to manage and use, the SMCWEBS-N features a Web-based Management Interface and comes complete with two detachable 2dBi antennas (RP-SMA).

Unlike most other products of its type on the market, the SMCWEBS-N also includes a 4-port 10/100 LAN Switch and multiple SSIDs – allowing customers to configure separate wireless networks with different settings and levels of security.
