PRLog (Press Release) - Mar 23, 2010 -
INABIF (National Family Welfare Institution) is the main public institution in charge of abandoned children, adoption, teenage mothers, street children, etc. Their role is to improve the quality of life for at-risk children and youth. INABIF takes care of street children, abandoned babies and children in the process of adoption. INABIF also works with teenage mothers. El Buen Pastor is a home for abandoned girls, some of whom may have been abused at home, orphaned, or lived on the street. El Buen Pastor needs volunteers to help the girls with their homework, to teach English and to strengthen their understanding of their other subjects.

Volunteers can assist by doing the following tasks:
The volunteer will be expected to simply be a part of the team and make friends with the girls. Volunteers will accompany the girls during their daily schedule and work in casual English lessons for example while helping in the kitchen. Volunteers may be required to assist the girls with their homework; to supplement their studies by teaching extra math, etc.; to teach the girls study skills; and to help them effectively use the El Buen Pastor library.

Other tasks that you may be requested to preform outside of your core duties:
The home has a program in place to teach the girls knitting, sewing, painting, art, dance, and pottery. Volunteers could also promote and help sell handmade products made by the girls to help support the cost of living at the home.
