DETROIT - Positive Detroit is celebrating spring with a new name, Upgrade Detroit. The non-profit group will host a special show about the changes in Detroit’s Public School system on Sunday March 28, 2010 at 8p.m. The online radio show “Upgrade Detroit” will feature a special interview with David Flanagan,  founder and director of  Detroit-based educational group Dad’s Love to Read.

Flangan will discuss the crisis in Detroit Public Schools on the Upgrade Detroit show and how parents can make sure children are learning in school and at home.  Dad’s Love to Read has been involved with public schools practicing reading skills with children and parents across metro Detroit.

Upgrade Detroit, will record its 17th show on Sunday and begin a new series of weekly shows about the people and services in Detroit. The organization’s new website will also be named UpgradeDetroit.com. Over the next few months fans of the non-profit will be able to log on to the old website PositiveDetroit.org and still find the same great information about the city and the suburbs events and activities.
The organization changed its name to respond to the outcry for change from the citizens of Detroit.

“People wanted a movement to change the image of the city of Detroit,” said Upgrade Detroit publisher Hartford Matthews. “ We wanted our name to reflect more than just a cause, but a movement that people will remember for years to come.”

Upgrade Detroit will air its show every Sunday night at 8p.m.  Listen to the show live via the company’s website http://www.PositiveDetroit.org.
