Angstrom Award Recipient Announced

Angstrom Lighting announces annual Lifetime Achievement in Lighting Design award tonight at the Colony Theatre in Burbank. The winner is Luke Moyer.

March 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Hollywood, CA – March 22, 2010 – Angstrom Lighting today announced that the 2009 Angstrom Award for Lifetime Achievement in Lighting Design will be presented by the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle. The $1,000 cash award, which recognizes career achievement in lighting design, will be presented to Luke Moyer during the 41st annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle awards ceremony this evening, March 22, at the Colony Theatre in Burbank.

Luke Moyer is the resident lighting designer for the NoHo Arts Center and NoHoAce, and for the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Previous productions include Pest Control (2008 Ovation Nominee Best Lighting), Yo Ho Ho! A Pirates’ Christmas, Zastrozzi, The Drawer Boy, The Cover Of Life, Jerusalem, Barnum, Elizabeth Rex (Ovation Award 2006), LIZARD, and the full staging of Angels In America.

He began his career at the Main Street Stage in Massachusetts where he designed Pms, Apartment 3A, Irma Vepp, and Collected Stories. His West Coast credits include The Last Pitch, Generator Girl, and Why’s The Dog Howlin’ Mama? For the Company Rep. he designed Six Degrees Of Separation, Camino Real, Split, The Comedy Of Errors, The Fantasticks, The Pension Grillparzer, Season’s Greetings, Twelfth Night, Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead, and Play Strindberg. His design work includes productions for The Company of Angels, Write Act, The Court Theater, The Howard Fine Acting Studio, and the West Los Angeles Theatre Center.

"I'm kind of shocked, kind of surprised and very, very excited!" said Moyer about his Angstrom Award. "I was not expecting it."

The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle was founded in 1969. It is dedicated to excellence in theatrical criticism and the encouragement and improvement of theatre in Greater Los Angeles. The membership consists of critics reviewing theatres for a variety of websites, radio stations, newspapers and magazines.
