Tom Villanova, Litchfield Bancorp’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, was one of nearly 1,000 bankers who visited the nation’s capital recently to voice their concerns about how current banking proposals could impact the local economy. The visit was part of the American Bankers Association’
Villanova met with Senator Dodd’s Chief of Staff and Congressman Joe Courtney to discuss efforts to reform financial regulations and ways to enhance small business lending.
“Traditional banking remains the foundation for our economic recovery,” Villanova said. “Banking is vital to helping small businesses regain their footing and is the key to economic growth. The industry’s efforts will be successful so long as new laws and new rules don’t hobble bankers’ ability to serve our communities.”
Each March, hundreds of bankers from across the nation gather in Washington for ABA’s Government Relations Summit to personally share their concerns with high-ranking Administration officials, leaders of Congress and federal regulators.
