Connecticut Probate Advocates responds to probate court administrator Judge Paul J. Knierims letter

Connecticut. Probate Advocates responds to probate court administrator Judge Paul J. Knierims letter to The Hartford Courant .Connecticut's Probate Courts Are Honorable — And Accountable

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 20, 2010 - The facts are the facts Judge Knierim .The probate courts are a mess, this is classic Knierim. "That's why there is a guaranteed right to appeal any probate decision to the Superior Court. A person who disagrees with a probate judge's decision can have another judge from a different court to review the case. Notably, very few probate matters are appealed"
I wonder why? Are you going to pay for the appeals process? The fact is Judge Knierim you are just a extension of the Connecticut probate Assembly
.
Another fact Judge Knierim is that while you and Southington probate judge Bryan F. Meccariello were togeather presenting the Seminar on Campaign Ethics, Disqualification, and Extra-judicial Private Practice Activities Presented by the Ethics Committee on January 12, 2010 Sam Manzo was being denied his Fifth Amendment right by your presentation partner and fellow ethics committee member Southington probate judge Bryan F. Meccariello , you know the one  No person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property, without due process of law. Sam Manzo a man of very little means reached out to you July 31,2009 and again on August 3,2009 and complained to you about your fellow ethics committee member Southington probate judge Bryan F. Meccariello and your response went something like this. “if your client disagrees with the courts ruling, he has a right to appeal to the superior court”.

I know there are some very good probate judges out there, but why do you refuse to do anything about the bad ones? Let me guess that not my job, right. You also state that the The Council on Probate Judicial Conduct investigates every complaint it receives. It can publicly admonish or censure a judge. It can even recommend that the General Assembly impeach the judge, that system has been in place since 1978 and it is not working, Maybe you can get permission from the Connecticut Probate Assembly to see if they are willing to make some changes to the Council on Probate Judicial Conduct. In short Judge Knierim, The probate court system in Connecticut is broken.

Judge Knierim I am sure you are a great dad and husband and I want to believe you are well intended; however you are not a good probate court administrator.
