March 19, 2010 - PRLog -- Last year only 46% of student loan applications were fully processed by the start of the academic year, leaving thousands of pupils unable to buy the necessities that are needed when started higher education.

It has now been announced that it is likely to get worse there has been twice as many applications to deal with this year and it has been said that the Student Loans Company (SLC) is “unproven” and a “substantial risk still remains”.

Last year when the student loans were delayed by the Student Loans Company (SLC) students would try calling them, but 87% of the students calls were left unanswered.  Some students even had to quit their course, as they did not receive their money.

In a survey of 1,000 students last year 1 in 6 insisted that when they did eventually get through to The Student Loans Company they were told that their documents were lost.

The national Audit Office said that last year “The Students Loan Company provided an unacceptable service last year”

Ralph Seymour-Jackson the chief executive of Student Loan Company stated “ We’re really sorry for the problems and delays students experienced last summer”

“We’ve put right those problems. We will be able to cope”

The government says an extra £16 million pounds has been put into The Student Loans Company to make sure it offers a better service all round and they will be dealing with second year students as well as the first year students, whereas they were only dealing with first year students last year.

“The service that the Student Loans Company provided last year was diabolical and many experts believe the same will happen this year.
Student loans are vital to higher education and if the students aren’t getting the loans they need in time they may have to pull out of their course which will strongly affect their life” Stated a specialist in sourcing student loans from Credit Problems No Problem who are specialists in sourcing fast student loans to residents of the United Kingdom.

David Lammy the higher education minister says “It is clear that the service offered by The Student Loans Company last summer fell well short of expectations.”

“It is important that we can be confident students and their families receive the service they deserve from The Student Loans Company throughout the rest of this year”

“We will see if the students receive the monetary support they need in the near future, but we sincerely doubt the ability of The Student Loans Company to deliver the first rate service our students deserve.”
