Follow on Google News | Coloring Your Easter Eggs with Onion Skins is to Dye For!Spring is finally here and Easter is around the corner. Celebrate with your family the natural way and learn to dye your eggs with Onion skins. Mr. Cottontail won't be disappointed!
By: Darcie Liptrot What You'll Need: To get started you'll need a dozen eggs, red storage onions with several layers of skin, yellow storage onions with several layers of skin, two pots, water and vinegar. Dying your Eggs: First, peel the skins from each onion, taking care to separate the skins into two piles according to color. Place each color of onion peels in separate pots, add eggs, fill with water, add a teaspoon of vinegar, and bring both pots to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. After simmering for 15 minutes, remove and discard the skins, then place eggs in a bowl to cool. When complete, you'll have golden yellow and beautiful red eggs. For a darker, richer color, leave the eggs in the onion-vinegar water and place in the fridge overnight. In the morning you’ll have deeply colored eggs that look almost too good to eat. Enjoy!
