Florida March 15, 2010 - National Puppy Day is a special day, recognized annually on March 23rd, to celebrate the magic and unconditional love that puppies bring to our lives and to help save orphaned puppies around the world. National Puppy Day was founded in 2006 by Animal Rescuer, Colleen Paige, who is also the founder of National Dog Day and National Cat Day. This holiday, as well as others, is part of Colleen Paige's Animal Miracle Foundation & Network (AMF), a non-profit organization which offers financial assistance and educational programs ranging from pet cancer to fire safety and travel safety for kids and pets alike. AMF also hosts many holiday festivals and trade shows throughout the year and brings local shelter pets to these events hoping to find them a ‘forever home.’
One of the primary purposes of The DogSmith, as expressed in their mission statement, includes supporting and assisting Humane Societies, animal shelters and rescue organizations to minimize the number of unwanted animals and to help shelter animals become more adoptable. To emphasize the importance of early puppy socialization as the foundation for a happy and healthy family life, The DogSmith offers free puppy socialization classes at all of its locally owned and operated franchise locations.
