Global Hotel Boom. Worldwide over 1,515 luxury hotels and 2,150 first class hotels with, in total, more than 1 million guest rooms are under construction. According to leading hotel data source tophotelprojects.com, investments in new upscale hotels summarize up to 140 billion Euro (nearly 200bn USD). Building costs for a luxury classed hotel room amounts to average 183,000 Euro. A first class room reflects with 135,000 Euro in the construction budget.
European hotel investments rise to approximately 30bn Euro in respect to more than 1,072 projects with over 189,000 guest rooms. In North America the on-going investments are even higher, totaling to 39.8bn Euro for merely 997 hotels with 250,000 guest rooms. All East Asian top hotel projects add up to 58.9bn Euro (1,270 projects with 370,000 rooms).
