After a very successful and crowd pleasing 2009 season the women of the Dallas Derby Devils are bringing the ever growing sport of roller derby back to the DFW Metroplex for another season. The league of business-women, housewives, managers, waitresses, teachers, law enforcement and medical professionals have been training and competing on a national level since the conclusion of the 2009 season with one thing in mind, preparing to bring Roller Derby to the fans in what is shaping up to be the best season yet for the North Texas League. Roller Derby is a sport where woman from all around the DFW Metroplex come together and have found a passion for hard hitting fast paced skating and where true athleticism is rewarded by the roar of the crowd and a championship trophy. The teams competing for the 2010 championship may boast some interesting names however, they are all focused on the competition and ensuring the fans get their money’s worth. Competing for the title of 2010 Champions are the Wrecking Crew, Suicide Shifters, High Seas Hotties, the Death Row Rumblers and the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Champion Team, the Slaughterers. Come out and enjoy the family friendly sport of Roller Derby as the season opens on April 17th, 2010. Then mark your calendars as the rest of the season is sure to be well worth the price of admission with at least one bout a month for several months, May 22nd, June 19th, July 10th, July 31st and August 28th.
The competition will take place at NYTEX Sports Centre (8851 Ice House Rd, North Richland Hills TX 76180). Doors open at 7:00 p.m. all season and the action will start at 7:30 p.m. The venue does have plenty of bleachers however, for those die hard derby fans, on-the-track space for chairs will be available. The Devils expect a capacity crowd this season, so get your tickets to this PG-13 event in advance for only $13 per person on-line or $15 at the door. Kids 12 and under are free.
