Vedanta Launches Quality Education Programme for Secondary School Students

As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Vedanta Aluminium Ltd (VAL) launched a unique programme “Vedanta Vidyarthi Vikash Yojana”

As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Vedanta Aluminium Ltd (VAL) launched a unique programme “Vedanta Vidyarthi Vikash Yojana” for imparting quality education and improving competency level of Secondary level students in peripheral villages, here at Hotel City palace in Jharsuguda. The programme will be implemented by a NGO Anchalika Jana Kalyan Anusthan (AJKA) in the six peripheral villages of VAL viz Bhurkamunda, Banjari, Kurebaga, Bhagipalli, Maa Samaleswari Nagar and Brundamal wherein five supplementary and remedial teaching centres will be opened for the Secondary level students and supplementary reading-writing materials will be provided to encourage self learning process among them along with guidance on life skill and personality development.
During the Programme Mr. Nandamani Toppo, Dy DI of Schools, Mr.Pankaj Khanna Executive Director VAL, Abhijit Pati ,COO VAL, Mr. Gautam Behera, Secretary AJKA, Tribikram Singh, Sarpanch Badmal, Ratan Nayak Secretary Anchalik Janmanch, Digdhan Pradhan, Social workers and many Students from peripheral Villages, Women and Villagers and senior officials from VAL were present among others.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Pankaj Khanna said, The development of human resource is not a single day phenomena and Keeping this in mind VAL aims at enabling Project Affected Families of the core peripheral villages to access quality education in Vernacular Schools by facilitating their linkage with the standardized tutorial classes and fun learning methods named as “VEDANTA VIDHYARTHI VIKAS YOJNA”. Success of this pilot Project will further the implementation to the entire district”.  The programme will reduce the drop out rate, inculcate the true spirits of learning and strengthen the quality and performance of the students, he added.
Mr Abhijit Pati, COO VAL said, “Vedanta is always there to come forward for improving the lives of the people and such initiatives are an effort in the direction. This programme will enable the students to understand the real value and meaning of education. This project is basically aimed at strengthening the existing educational system in our project affected peripheral villages. Programme focuses on access, enrolment, retention and improving quality education in schools by providing proper guidance and coaching to the students.”
“There is no end to education. Such steps taken by VAL and AJKA will usher in a new era in improving the plight of the secondary students in the region”, Mr Toppo, Dy DI Schools said.
Other speakers also lauded on this noble initiative of VAL. The programme ended with strong resolution to implement the initiative in its true spirit and action.
