Steiner Sports Steps To Plate With Original Babe Ruth Bat

NEW YORK -- An original, near-pristine, and extremely rare autographed Babe Ruth model bat is now available as part of the “Yankees Legends Auction” at Steiner Sports (http://www.steinersports.com).  The brown bat, a promotional model circa 1933, was signed by the “Bambino” with a steel-tipped pen between the trademark and the branded signature, and has been authenticated by James Spence Authentication as one of the highest-rated Ruth pieces ever.

Bidding on the bat closes on April 4.

“This is one of the crown jewel pieces that we have ever been entrusted with at Steiner Sports,” said Steiner Sports Founder Brandon Steiner. “The fact that so few Ruth-signed bats exist, and that this one is in such outstanding condition make it the ultimate collectible related to the sport's most famous player of all time.”

How unique a find is this piece?  James Spence of Spence Authentication has seen about 15 in his more than 20 years in the field.

“This bat represents the perfect scenario,” said Spence after rating the piece.  “The autograph itself is in such outstanding condition.  Such great care was taken by the folks who had Ruth sign the bat – there are no smudge marks, it hasn't faded, and the line is perfectly smooth.  It's a great find.”
