It was a long time coming but the brick of a laptop computer my girlfriend has finally bit the dust. Weighing what feels like 20 pounds, as thick as a dictionary and no aesthetic value at all, it lasted into the turn of the 21st century before finally shorting out. I’m pretty certain the motherboard fried, because it used to get very hot when on but now will not do anything after pressing the power button. I’m certain the power supply did not short out too. She is actually excited to shop for a laptop computer with her birthday coming up soon. We have been sitting on my desktop, browsing the different deals at online stores. She is not a heavy user so price has the biggest bearing on her decision.

It is amazing how cheap a good laptop computer is. Not too long ago, when I bought mine, it was hard to find a good laptop computer for less then 1000 dollars. After netbooks hit the scene prices really started to fall. That is the technology curve. It works great for the people who don’t need to always upgrade to the latest and greatest.
