Utah Onions, Inc. Announces New Sales Partnership with R.A. Rasmussen & Sons
Syracuse, Utah, March 2, 2010—Utah Onions is pleased to announce its newest sales collaboration with Washington-based grower R.A. Rasmussen & Sons. Utah Onions will now handle all onion sales for the grower’s 800-acres of yellow and red onion crops.
“We are pleased to announce that we have made some upgrades to our sales program,” Said Greg Rasmussen, Owner of R.A. Rasmussen & Sons, in a recent letter to his customers. “We are working diligently to make this a smooth transition for all of our loyal customers.”
The Granger, Washington farm produces over-winter yellows and reds that are harvested and shipped from the end of June to mid-July, and Storage yellows and reds from the first part of August to mid- October. The farm yields approximately one-million, 50-pound bags.
Shawn Hartley, Vice President of Sales and owner of Utah Onions, will be handling the account.
“Utah Onions is proud to be representing Rasmussen & Sons. This partnership will allow us to continue offering the highest quality onions for an extended period of time, making us a grower-shipper that is able to supply customers on a year-round basis” said Hartley of the venture.
Vertical integration is an important part of Utah Onion’s business plan. The partnership will create one more level of integration not offered by many growers, making Utah Onions a one-stop shop for the growing, packing, shipping, buying and selling of onions.
The company will continue to grow and ship from its three locations in Syracuse/Corrine, Utah; Prosser, Washington; and Nyssa, Oregon with Granger, WA being the fourth.
