Many of you have heard about Vision Boards. Talked about in the media often, Vision Boards (or mindmaps, treasure maps) are getting a lot of attention. We know that Vision Boards can be a way to visually document our goals in order to focus on manifesting them. But what do Vision Boards have to do with Health and Wellness?
Well Vision Boards are a way to connect with your spirit and access that "intuitive" space within that knows what is best for you at that particular moment and in the near future. Often stress, overwhelm, and worry (which lead to a multitude of health issues) come about as a result of not knowing in which direction you are moving and what actions to take in order to achieve your dreams. If you are in a confused space and looking for direction on what the next step is for you in your life, creating a Vision Board is a great first step. It allows you to get focused, set an intention and visualize the future you want to create.
So how do you get started? Collect the following items: a posterboard, some old magazines (of different genres), a pair of scissors, and a glue stick. Now the important part is to first take some quiet time to really connect to yourself - put on some soft relaxing music, take 10-15 deep breaths and really begin to relax. Imagine yourself in a place that is peaceful for you (such as the beach, your family home, or somewhere else in nature), remind yourself of the feeling you get by being there, and begin to get connected to that quiet place within. Take 10 minutes or so in this place to really connect to yourself and ask your intuition to give you guidance on what steps you need to take or what you need to focus on in order to reach your desired goals (e.g., goals for the year, career goals, relationship goals, increased health and wellness goals).
Then open your eyes and begin looking through the old magazines. Cut out any pictures, words, or phrases that jump out at you based upon the intention that you set. Go through each of the magazines and pull out these images and put them aside. Once you have pulled out enough items use your intuition to begin placing them on the posterboard (don't glue yet)! Once you have put everything on your posterboard and it is all placed in a way that feels right begin pasting the images/phrases onto the posterboard.
Once you finish pasting you should have a good visual guide for the steps you need to take to move towards your goals. See if there is anything that jumps out at you as real "Ah Ha" moments. Those are the places to start taking action first. Wellness starts with connection to your spirit and Vision Boards are a great way to do that. Start today and get connected to your spirit!
