Colnect attributes the accelerated timing of this accomplishment to a record number of new collector sign-ups over the past couple of months, a trend Colnect founder Amir Wald cited as proof that the site is rapidly developing an impressive global reputation. As of March 16, 109 countries spanning every continent are represented by at least one active Colnect collector. "As our international reach expands, we can only except even more collectors to discover the benefits of using Colnect to collect and connect with fellow collectors from all around the world," a beaming Mr. Wald declared.
While these trends signal goods news for the site as a whole, Mr. Wald explained that individual collectors stand to benefit most from Colnect's rapid development. According to his reasoning, a wider collector base means more potential swap partners for Colnect members as well as a greater number of potential contributors to the site. Since Colnect's catalogs are created and managed entirely in a wiki-like fashion, the latter translates into more comprehensive catalogs that will benefit the entire community. In addition, Mr. Wald noted that having a diverse membership on Colnect will open up further opportunities for new collectible categories, with several of these already in the planning or development stage.
