The first official “Keep God In America Rally” will be held in Jacksonville, Florida, March 26 - 28, 2010. The three-day event will include speaker sessions and a Sunday concert. The rally’s purpose is to educate, inspire and serve by spotlighting the role that America’s Judeo-Christian heritage has played --and should continue to play -- in the success of the greatest free society in the history of mankind. The event has been endorsed by Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN), Congressman Randy Forbes (VA), author and urban renewal advocate Star Parker, and 40 Days for Life National Director David Bereit, among others.
“We want to point out that this is not a political event organized by any one political party or grassroots movement,” said lead organizer Chris Nwasike, who is a Jacksonville banker. “We are not rallying to force Christianity on government. At the same time, we cannot strip our Judeo-American heritage from the history books, or disallow Christians from gathering to worship God, having opinions or running for government offices.”
The rally is hosted by the non-profit organization Biblical Concepts Ministries of Jacksonville, FL, which has partnered with www.KeepGodinAmerica.com to publicize the event. Jacksonville holds historical significance concerning Christianity in America. The Huguenots (the name applied to members of the Protestant Reformed Christian Church from the 16th to 18th centuries), fled religious persecution from Europe and established the colony of Fort Caroline, which is today Jacksonville, FL. They celebrated the first Day of Thanksgiving to God in 1564.
“God of the Bible has been a part of America from the its very inception. We want to dispel the current secular myth that Christianity is exclusive, arrogant and banal,” said Nanette Malher, owner of the domain www.KeepGodinAmerica.com.“
Speaker events will take place on the campus of North Florida University, Friday from 6p.m. to 8p.m. and Saturday from 9a.m. to 4p.m. Featured guests include Dr. Rick Green of Wall Builders, Dr. Scarborough of Vision America, Matt Brock of Liberty Council.
On Sunday, March 28, a Praise Concert will take place at Metropolitan Park across from Jaguars Stadium with choirs, professional musicians, speakers and skits. Activities are planned for all ages, including pony rides and a hands-on exhibit a fighter jet called “The Patriot” used in the Vietnam War. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Food vendors and merchandise booths will be on site. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
