Puerto Vallarta – One of the most popular vacation spots in Mexico. Puerto Vallarta boasts beautiful beaches backed by lush jungle running up into a low costal range which is cut in many places by sparkling waterfalls. The close proximity of mountainous jungle and a beautiful beach give Puerto Vallarta every possible advantage for the adventurous vacationer. Scuba, sport fishing, sailing, rock climbing, waterfall diving, quad riding, canopy tours, zip lines, swimming with dolphins, and more await the adventurous. For those more interested in a tradition time Puerto Vallarta offers much to suit your tastes as well. 5 star resorts, fine dining, arts and cultural experiences, shopping, golfing, and more are all easily accessible. Or if you want the simplest of vacations lounging by the beach or pool with a margarita is available…pretty much everywhere.
Manzanillo – Located in Colima state in Mexico. Manzanillo makes a great getaway with world famous beaches, local flavor and fabulous outdoor activities. Splash it up, on awesome beaches for surfing, catch your dinner on a sport fishing excursion, take a tour to the top of a volcano, or dive down and explore the ocean floor. Vacationing in Manzanillo offers a more authentic cultural experience than many of Mexico’s more touristy towns. It’s known as the sailfish capital of the world and holds a yearly national sport fishing tournament. It is also well know for the green flash phenomenon that occurs at sunset. Many fine resorts and vacation villa rentals line the coastal area around Manzanillo including Casa Colina a breath taking luxury hillside vacation retreat.
Cozumel – Is basically a flat limestone island 30 miles off the coast of Mexico from Playa Del Carmen. Doesn’t sound to sexy does it? Until you step out onto the white sand beach. Or strap on some scuba gear and take a swim through the reefs off the south of the island that Jacques Cousteau called one of the most spectacular diving spots on earth. Get to Cozumel by ferry from Playa Del Carmen or from Cancun Airport Terminal 2. From Cancun you can hop on a small plane and you’ll be in Cozumel in 15 minutes. The $75 USD flight one way is a true experience as you take in absolutely unforgettable vistas of the coast near Cancun, the ocean and islands. Cozumel takes a little more work to get to…but for those willing to go the extra mile (or 40 miles from Cancun airport) you will receive a vacation experience like none other. Also the island festival of El Cedral in the last week of April or first week of May is a pretty cool time to be on the island.
Cancun – There’s a reason Cancun attracts 4 million visitors each year…It’s a beach escape paradise and it has the infrastructure to handle it. The Hotel Zone which is situated on an island connected by bridges to the mainland offers a broad range of accommodations, shopping, theme parks and many, many beach activities. Cancun also offers much in the way of cultural experiences, if you can get away from the heavily commercialized hotel zone. Just a short trip by tour bus into the jungle and you’ll find yourself at the great site of the Mayan city of Chichen Itza. Cancun is wonderful city to vacation in, though the obvious warning to travelers seeking a more mature crowd, the College Spring break period mid-March thru early April would be advisable to steer clear of. Or you can head 45 minutes by bus or taxi to the south to Playa Del Carmen.
