Black Velvet Deluxe, L.A. Rock Band, Selected As Artist Of The Month By Red Eye Radio Network

March 13, 2010 - PRLog -- Black Velvet Deluxe has received yet another honor close on the heels of being nominated for a L.A. Music Award for their original song, My Pride, in the Rock Single category. Most recently, the L.A. rock band was thrilled to get the news that the Red Eye Radio Network had named them Artist of the Month.    

When Nate Beck, lead guitar for Black Velvet Deluxe, received the good news about the selection, he remembered “Norma Jean” was the first to play their music on the air. On New Year’s Eve, 2009, the Red Eye Radio Network debuted My Pride, and they have been playing it every since then. Now that Black Velvet Deluxe has their music being played on over 300 radio stations, including many great indie and college stations, the members of the band will never forget who helped them get their start.  

Indie radio station The Red Eye Network is totally listener-supported and non-commercial. Basically, they play what they like, and what their listeners want to hear, not what some fat cat behind a six-foot desk in New York City tells them to play, based on the recent numbers.

Station Director Norma Lee Rogers, who goes by Norma Jean when on the air, states that the programming runs the gamut from great indie music, some radio improv, on air prank calls, live interviews, and always surprises with some for certain weirdness around every corner. There are often band members and other interesting folks dropping by the studio to be guests on the wild and crazy shows. Spontaneity and good-humored sarcasm are recognized among the station's most commonly noted characteristics.
