This spring Tensta Konsthall has added two new board members, four new members of staff and a selection of international and Swedish curators. “It’s great to look at the prospect of spring with such an injection of experience talent and energy and it feels that with this new team the art centre is more than able to both thrive and even more excitingly expand into new areas.” says Director William Easton.
“It’s really positive for Tensta Konsthall that Birgitta Rydell with her experience of being the vice mayor for culture for Stockholm and Sven Lorentzi from the housing agency Svenska Bostäder have chosen to join the board. It strengthens the art centres clear and avowed aim to work locally, nationally and internationally”
Commenting on the reasons why they have taken on the role Rydell commented that “Tensta Konsthall spearheads Stockholm’s cultural life and the art centre adds a great deal to the reputation of Stockholm as a centre for culture. Lorentzi with his tremendous local experience echoed Rydells words saying “Tensta konsthall has an important place in Stockholm’s art life and that of Tensta, It is wonderful to be able to be part of the art centre’s future”.
Easton adds, “Our new team also includes: Nina Wennberg as coordinator who has previously worked both at Tensta Konsthall and Bonniers Konsthall, Mathew Newton a graduate of the Royal College in London who is our in-house designer, Konstfack educated pedagogue and co-founder of the artists run gallery Detroit, Hedwig Wiezell, and Malin Finlöf as head of maintenance who brings a much needed experience of working with theatre.
Amongst the exciting list of curators we will working with this year are, Elisabeth Delin Hansen from the Nikolaj Art Centre in Copenhagen, Biljana Ciric a Serbian born curator now based in Shanghai and Adnan Yildiz a Turkish curator living in Berlin and in the list of local names are Kim Einarrsson from Konsthall C the artist and critic Magdalena Dzurlikowska and a first time curator Russian born Maria Gromowa who will working on a new student project.”
