70 Workshops Set For Oregon Home Education Network (OHEN) 11th Home Schooling Convention

70 workshops will be offered at OHEN's 11th Convention on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Tigard High School, 9000 SW Durham Road in Tigard, Oregon. The theme is "You're On the Right Track!"

March 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Tigard Oregon—Oregon Home Education Network (OHEN) will offer over 70 homeschooling workshops at its 11th Convention, taking place at Tigard High School.

Highlights include: OHEN president Tara Atkinson's "Homeschooling 101: Learning Outside the Box",  and three workshops with homeschooling expert, author Pat Farenga: "Working with Your Child's Strengths", "Living Better through Home Based Learning", and "Sit Down, Shut Up Do as I Say and Other Concepts of Education". Farenga is the convention's keynote speaker.

30 workshops are specifically geared for children and teens, including BJ the Clown (3 to 12 year olds), Cowabunga Chemistry with OMSI, Team Building with Destination Imagination, Theater Arts with Stagecoach Theater Arts School, fencing with the NW Fencing Center, physical theater with Do Jump, crafts with Michaels, and Digipen's "Make Your Own Video Games"(age 13 and up).

"From wondering how to start a homeschool group to wondering how to apply to private colleges, OHEN's workshops address every stage of the homeschooling journey. I like that there are interesting sessions for teens and younger children, too." says homeschooling dad, David Hobson, of Beaverton, OR.

OHEN workshop speakers and presenters include local homeschooling author Tamra Orr,  Frank Graham (Oregon History Museum), Rosalyn Newhouse (Village Home Education Resource Center), Kristine Parker (Allegro Music Academy), Team Quest, The Oregon Public Library, George Fox University, Hatfield Marine Science Center, Campfire USA, Ancient Wonders, The Red Cross, Discovery Toys, The American Legion,  HELP (help eliminate learning problems) Inc, Twist Sport Conditioning, Cwerks Inc, OR Driver Education Center, Creative Children's Center, Sherwood YMCA, Moonstar Dance Studio, and more.  

"The Magic, Comedy and Illusion" of William Scott Anderson, will close the convention.

OHEN's 11th Convention is on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Tigard High School, 9000 SW Durham Road in Tigard, Oregon. The theme is "You're On the Right Track!" Admission is $25 for adult OHEN members, $35 adult non members, $10 additional adults, $20 children.
