Polish your golf clubs and get your night vision goggles out. The Port St. Lucie Sunset Rotary Club has announced their 11th annual benefit moonlight golf tournament. The event will be held Friday, April 23rd, at the Sandpiper Golf Course, Club Med in Port St. Lucie.
This event is a unique experience for many golfers who are used to playing in the light and heat of the day. And although they won’t really allow night vision goggles, there are certain elements to a nighttime tournament not seen during the day. Using “glow in the dark” golf balls and playing by moonlight, golfers confront the challenges of trying to see the fairway, greens and especially the hole. But it’s more than the challenges that bring these golfers out. It’s also the party atmosphere that these nocturnal linksters love. “I’m always amazed at how many golfers we get for these nighttime tournaments”
Registration begins at 6:00 p.m. and a shotgun start will begin the tournament at 7:00 p.m. Format is a 4 member scramble and both men and women are welcome to play. Entry fees for the tournament are $60 per person and include a hearty breakfast buffet following the tournament. There will also be a putting contest, a raffle and a 50/50.
This tournament is part of the PSL Sunset Rotary Golf Tournament for Charities Program and beneficiary for this tournament is the CASTLE, a local child abuse prevention and education program
