Separation
Laurie Wood was born in California during the 1940’s. The name on her birth certificate was Doran Doran. That name would change several times through the years.

Not long after Laurie’s first birthday, her mother moved to New York, leaving her child behind. By that time Laurie was known as Patricia Kathleen Vernazza. Her mother had a statement notarized to make the name change official before moving away.

Decades Apart
Years flew by, and Laurie never had any contact with her relatives. Even after all that time, the woman who was now known as Laurie Wood continued to wonder about the family she never knew, and finally decided to do something about it. Her quest began.

To start, Laurie began searching for her mother’s husband, Bruno Vernazza. She was very excited when she found an address for him, but quickly hit a dead end. Bruno didn’t live there anymore. For a while Laurie’s search seemed to be going nowhere


A Little Help From A Friend
Jeri Livingston attended Woodrow Wilson High School in the 1960’s, and was part of the reunion committee many years later. She helped find several missing classmates in time for the big event, and earned the name “Sherlock” for her sleuthing abilities. Her reputation as a “people finder” led several former classmates to ask her for help locating their own family and friends. One of those classmates was Laurie Wood.

After agreeing to help, Jeri used the outdated address and managed to track down a woman who once lived with Bruno. Sadly, Bruno had passed away, but the woman did have several of his personal belongings. Among them was a certificate of his marriage to Laurie’s mother.


A Thrilling Reunion
Now that Jeri had an important piece of the puzzle, she was able to use the online services of The PeopleFinders Network to find Laurie’s uncle. He provided even more information and helped Laurie connect with an aunt, sister and brother she never even knew existed.

Their reunion was a touching occasion filled with long hugs, funny stories and tears of joy. As if this excitement wasn’t enough, it all took place on Laurie’s 60th birthday. Since then Laurie has met many more of her relatives, and today they all enjoy a larger and very loving family.
