Nature walk is a sustainable teak plantation, overlooking the Pacific about 20 minutes from Jaco in Costa Rica.
The teak on the land is 12 years old and will be matured for full harvest in 8 years.
But the land is currently being subdivided into fully serviced (electricity, water and road access) of 1,000m2 and upwards.
Lot owners will benefit from the returns from the valuable teak growing on their land and can develop the land themselves or alternately sell it on.
PRG are in the process of building a teak mill close to the site and that mill will be used to mill teak from Nature Walk. This milled teak will be used by PRG Tropical Homes to build teak homes on the site and local artisan carpenters will use the teak offcuts to manufacture teak furniture.
So teak grown on site, will be used to build teak homes on the same site.
James Cahill, from Costa Rica Invest, says “we are delighted to be involved in Nature Walk, a model of sustainable development and purchasers will benefit not only from the teak growing on their land but a huge additional benefit is the guaranteed market provided by PRG Tropical Homes on site. The intention for the teak mill is that it will use solar kilns for the drying of the timber and additional energy supplementation from ethanol production from teak shavings and sawdust.”
