Autumn sees us reap the culinary rewards from the summer growing season , including garden fresh vegetables, stone fruits and late autumn berries. A time for nostalgic bottling and preserving or for many, being content with biting into a delicious juicy apple or sipping a newly released seasonal local wine.
We are hearing, from the evergrowing numbers of loyal local and out of town customers , that the Trentham Farmers Market is developing a reputation for “harvesting”
One of these stories culminates this coming Saturday in the renovated gardens of the Cosmopolitan Hotel which hosts its first destination wedding. A local Newbury couple who, prior to visiting the Farmers Market last November, had previously agreed on a City wedding venue. However, after enjoying coffee at the newly opened Cosmopolitan Hotel Beer Gardens they then wandered through the market to discover a stallholder specialising in seasonal flower and herb bouquets, sourced from their own and local gardens. Upon enquiring whether they could assist with their wedding flowers, the couple hatched a new plan which incorporated utilising the rich resources on their doorstep and holding their special event in a place (and with local producers) which is dear to their hearts.
This is just one of many experiences from market goers which we are hearing about, so why not come and visit us and tell us about your story and also stuff your pantry! The Trentham Farmers Market Autumn Celebration is on Saturday March 20th, it incorporates an Easter theme where we will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt around the surrounding Market and The Cosmopolitan Hotel Gardens. Stallholders will be participating in a “Wear your best Easter Bonnet ” competition and our community group hosting the sausage sizzle is the Trentham Primary School. Our gold coin donation entry goes to the Trentham Lions Club. Combined with the Trenthamade market across the road and local entertainment you could not ask for a more delightful morning!
