Whether you are relocating or you are going on a vacation, many people are more inclined towards choosing to van hire or truck hire to take a more do-it-yourself approach. At some point of time, we all have found moving as stressful and an expensive experience. But with the various options available to rent, one can have full control over the big move. This helps in saving a lot of money and time. However, to choose between the two is still difficult decisions to make for us.

To make a right choice, take some time to prepare and plan the move which would not be overly hard.

Step1: Know the distance of your move.
If the distance is short, opt for a van hire and make few short trips to and fro. But in case you are relocating or going on month long vacation interstate then you will need a vehicle big enough to fit all of your belongings into, in that case opt for a truck hire  to make one trip!

Step2: The volume of goods you need to carry along.

Step3: Your ability to drive or in case you needs another helping hand for driving.

Step4: One way rental.
Most people go for a one way rental that will cost more than a regular rental, but it is convenient. It is because it means that you can return the truck or van at your final destination saving you a return journey.

Step5: Negotiate with the rental agency for cost reduction. This works!

Now you have decided the vehicle you need, there are few mistakes that should be avoided, such as

1.   Plan your trip in advance,
2.   Size of the vehicle that is required,
3.   Using far more diesel than you need,
4.   Avoid extra tips with extra toll charges,
5.   Extending the time period of hire un- necessarily,
6.   Moving out of your budget,
7.   Extending your own insurance,
8.   Missing the deadlines for the purchased insurance.

A truck hire or a van hire, book your rental well in advance. You can book online (an instant and most preferred way adopted by many) or via phone. By working in advance, you will ensured of size of the vehicle available and all other formalities can be carried out easily, which otherwise on doing on spot can result in mess. If you want to book some extras like packing materials, make sure that they are available on the day. Before you book, it is a good idea to conduct some research. Compare the prices of different local rental agencies and get the best deal for yourself.
