Let the Search Begin...for Happy Wives

Woman in U.S. begins journey to find 1,000,000 wives happy in their marriage and in love with their husbands. In just four weeks, wives from 22 countries in 6 continents join club to say “I am a Happy Wife!”

March 10, 2010 - PRLog -- An unknown woman from a Los Angeles suburb embarks upon a journey to find at least one million 'Happy Wives' around the world.  When asked the reason for this lofty goal Fawn Weaver, a busy executive, says simply, "Television has given us the Stepford Wives, Desperate Housewives, 'Real Housewives' of Orange County, Atlanta, New York, Washington D.C. and New Jersey.  But what about the group of married women conveniently missing from all forms of television and media?  There are so many, like me, who love being married, adore their husbands and consider their union one of the greatest joys in life.  Where are these women in the media?  When will their lives be reflected on the big screen or on television?"  She concluded that would never happen unless someone addressed the issue head on, so four weeks ago she stayed up until late one evening writing about this subject in her journal.  By 2am, the Happy Wives Club was born and the website www.HappyWivesClub.com was launched.

It seems unfathomable to believe a goal of finding 1 million happily married women can be accomplished in a day and age when nearly all the focus on marriage seems to be negative.  Those struggling in marriage, battling their husband and miserable in love is what takes center stage.  But Fawn is convinced there is another group out there who just hasn't received the same amount of attention.  "When my husband and I were first married all we heard about was how difficult marriage was and how we should enjoy our 'honeymoon phase' because it would soon end.  Well, seven years into this relationship our love and marriage keeps getting better and stronger with every passing moment.”

She goes on to recount how she began wondering about other wives with a similar experience in their marriage. “I began thinking about my own group of friends and realized although I had 4 or 5 girlfriends with major challenges in their marriage, I had 7 or 8 with the exact opposite experience.  Most were still madly in love with their husband and given a choice to remarry the same man, they’d do it in a heartbeat.  So that made me wonder, 'Is it possible the number of women happy in their marriage actually outnumbers those who are unhappy and feel unfulfilled?'"

Fawn surmises the media fascination with drama perpetuates the notion that marriage and conflict must go hand-in-hand.  "People like watching drama on television and reading about it in the magazines and newspapers so that is all the media focuses on -- even when it comes to areas like marriage and that should not be." she notes.  "The more we say marriage is difficult and love is hard, the more jaded we become.  This becomes our new kind of normal.”  In writing about this on her site www.HappyWivesClub.com she says, “…I want so desperately for other women to feel the love I have in my marriage.  To experience the joy of being married to your closest friend, confidant and lover.  My heart’s desire is that women all over the world will rekindle in their hearts the love story which began when we were little girls.  Before the world – and past romantic interests – had a chance to ruin it.”

In the first week of the site’s existence – launched February 4th in honor of her friend Jocelyn’s wedding anniversary – close to 1,000 women logged on and women head-over-heals in love with their husbands joined one-by-one from all over the globe.  By week 4, married women from 22 countries (Germany, Egypt, Phillipines, India, Canada, Sweden, Botswana, Scotland, Finland, New Zealand, Zambia, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates, Zimbabwe, Singapore, South Africa, Australia, Kenya, South America, United Kingdom, Malaysia, and of course, the US) and 6 continents became members of the Happy Wives Club.  “The interesting thing about this club,” says Fawn “is it is completely a grass roots, word-of-mouth effort.  I sent the link to a few friends and my younger sister, Christy Joy.  They sent it to their friends and chatted about it on Facebook and hopefully we’re now on our way to having 1 million members.  What has surprised me most about the Club is more than 52% of the membership has been married for quite some time, between 10 and 62 years.  That's alot of 'Happy' anniversaries.  How amazing is that?” she asks.

Amazing it is.
