The nine-time European champions dominated the first-half as a spirited Cristiano Ronaldo surged down the left flank and surprised Lloris as he leveled the tie after scoring with a left-footed goal early in the game (6m). In the other important game of the evening Manchester United trounced AC Milan 4-0 with 2 goals by the inevitable Rooney while Park and Fletcher completed the humiliation in a game that saw David Beckham return to Old Trafford, but this time playing for Milan, who bowed out after also losing at home 2-3 in the first tie. Sir Alex Ferguson’s team head into the quarter-finals with an aggregate 7-2 win to join yesterday’s winners Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
