Hands For Africa Reaches Out To Haitian Amputees

March 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Tustin, California, March 10, 2010 – Hands for Africa has been sadly moved by the devastation, death and amputations in Haiti caused by the 7.0 Magnitude earthquake. When Hands for Africa heard about the hundreds of daily amputations in Haiti who saw in their haze of agony only “an amputate or die” choice as a result of earthquake, some victims took to utilizing rusty hacksaws and vodka to alleviate their pain.  Hands for Africa stepped in a provided proper medical care and prosthetic devices for 50 men, women and children in immediate need.  Our goal is to return within the next month to accommodate at least 100 additional victims.  
Hands for Africa is a NGO, nonprofit borne out of the aftermath of the Blood Diamond industry in Sierra Leone.  Hands for Africa believes that self reliance is the cornerstone for the development of innocent victims and communities ravaged by the civil wars in Africa. Hands for Africa is focused on restoring lost hope, building communities and preserving generations through self reliance. Hands for Africa ensures that victims are assessed carefully to develop programs and/or implement existing programs that will foster self-reliance. Examples include combining educational scholarships with frequent monitoring, fostering long term food supplies through community agriculture training, identifying optimum location and capacity of wells to maximize the provision of water for an entire village, maximize provision for artificial limbs and training for amputees to become productive members of society and to maximize provision of micro finance to jump start small businesses.

Hands For Africa's mandate is to restore lost hope to innocent victims of civil wars in African countries and to develop and implement programs that foster self-reliance by directly engaging the innocent victims and their communities to provide artificial limbs for Amputees, to provide wells for water, to support agriculture development, to provide education for the innocent victims and their children, to provide health education, to provide micro finance for trade and housing through community construction.
