While it is a given that a model must have a portfolio showing their work and an actor must have at minimum a headshot, the latest new trend in the industry is for a video clip or “slate” displaying both the model / actor’s ability to walk and talk while incorporating still photos from their portfolio as well. These “slates”/ casting reels allow a casting director or agent to view the model / actor on film, in action and get a better feel for the voice and movement quality of the talent, while allowing the talent more freedom to show their true potential in a film / video medium.
