Dubai, February 21- 24: Over 1500 chefs from the Middle East and beyond participated in the Emirates International Salon Culinaire, which is the annual event held during Gulfood, the Middle East’s largest trade exhibition for the food, beverage, food service and hospitality equipment industry.
The event consisted of a series of competitions in 25 categories for professional chefs, pastry chefs, cooks and bakers. Categories ranged from the creation and preparation of a five-course gourmet meal to dessert plates, ice carvings and confectionery.
The Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek was once again delighted to announce its association with the Emirates International Salon Culinaire, by achieving a winning number of 28 medals and certificates of merit!
The hotel’s chefs competed in a series of events and categories and managed to get a total of 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 13 bronze medals and 10 certificates of merit for the following categories: Showpiece Carving, Practical Cookery, Four-Course Vegetarian Menu, Five Course Gourmet menus.
The outstanding performer this year was Kitchen Artist - Rovert Cagayat, winning one gold, three silver and 2 bronze medals in Ice, Vegetable and Fruit Showpiece Carving.
To add to these achievements, during this year’s event, Director of Kitchens - Chef Uwe Micheel was officially accredited as one of the judges for the World Association of Chefs, and will have the opportunity to be judging similar culinary events around the world.
