Think the Los Angeles Lakers will win the 2010 NBA championship? Don't bet on it!

March 9, 2010 - PRLog -- As the end of the regular NBA season comes to a close and the playoffs begin, sports bettors can place futures wagers on who they believe will win the 2010 NBA championship.  Since the Los Angeles Lakers won it all in 2009 and are currently one of the top teams approaching the end of the 2010 season, sportsbooks have them listed as the clear favorite to repeat as champions.

For sports bettors looking for good value bets, betting on the Lakers to win it all again may not provide enough of a return on investment to tie up their money until the end of the NBA Finals.

The Bodog Sportsbook currently has 2 to 1 odds on the Lakers to repeat.

If you bet $100 on the Lakers to win you will win $200 for a total pay off of $300.

However there are still dangerous teams that could knock off the Lakers from their throne and become the new NBA champions.

One potential candidate would be the Denver nuggets who are currently listed with 9 to 1 odds.  You were saying $100 wager could result in a total pay off of $1000.

Another potential candidate is the Orlando Magic who recently held off the Lakers at their home court.  Their current odds are 17/2 which would turn your $100 bet into a $950 payoff.

The last candidate would be the Cleveland Cavaliers but they also have 2 to 1 odds and would give the same payout as a bet on the Lakers would so this may not be as attractive a wager.
