Besides visits to olive groves and processing facilities, the group will visit museums, archeological sites, historic Carthage, and enjoy shopping in the Medina and traditional Tunisian dinners.
The mission is part of a larger program to promote 100% Tunisian olive oil in the US market. The tradition of Tunisian olive oil dates back centuries. Located along Africa’s northern coast just 60 nautical miles from the island of Sicily, Tunisia is the world’s fourth largest producer of olive oil.
Because of its extraordinary taste, color and aroma, Tunisian olive oil is often blended with other oils, but as consumers are becoming more sophisticated, demand is growing for pure, unblended, 100% Tunisian olive oil.
Thanks to a unique terrain and Mediterranean climate, Tunisia has a deep-rooted history and culture in the production of olive oil.
