PRLog (Press Release) - Mar 09, 2010 -
If you manage a hotel, resort or business in the Caribbean and wish to improve the safety of your guests and staff we can help.  The CPR School offers CPR, AED, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogen HIV AIDS Safety Training Certification Classes at your location.  The CPR School will travel to your business, office, construction company, manufacturing facility, medical facility, hotel, resort, country club, private island, yacht, yacht club or any other location offering safety training certification classes for you and your employees.  In addition to training, we will perform an onsite safety survey and risk assessment.  We can inspect your first aid medical supplies, test and inspect your AED, determine if you have sufficient medical supplies and if you have these items in the proper location.

Last month we witnessed the devastation earthquakes caused in Haiti and Chile.  In a few months hurricane season will be upon us.  Is your staff CPR AED and First Aid certified?  Are you prepared for medical emergencies such as bleeding and burns?  How about stroke, heart attack or sudden cardiac arrest?  In our classes we train your staff how to prepare for and how to treat many common medical emergencies.

The time it takes to get to hospitals in many parts of the Caribbean makes knowing CPR and First Aid even more important to learn.  Becasue of this, The CPR School has expanded our coverage area to include Anguilla, Antigua, Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Colombia, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Montserrat, Netherlands Antilles, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Martin, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad, Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands and the United States Virgin Islands.  To better serve these customers we created a new website http://www.CaribbeanFirstAid.com   If you live or work in the Caribbean and are responsible for the safety of your guests and employees you should invest in safety training, the correct medical supplies and medical equipment and prepare for medical emergencies.

Many clients ask, should we have an AED - Automated External Defibrillator?
My answer is always "Yes". I say yes as long as you are willing to implement the program correctly.  According to the American Heart Association, sudden cardiac arrest claims about 340,000 lives each year – or around 1,000 every day in the United States.  Sudden cardiac arrest, which is the leading cause of death in the United States. Cardiac arrest kills more people than breast cancer, lung cancer, and AIDS combined. Currently 95 percent of all cardiac arrest victims die.

Simply put, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) save lives.  Would you vote in favor of spending $2,000 if it saved a friend or family member´s life? The answer is obviously yes. You have smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, security cameras and other systems to save your property why not put something in place that saves lives.

What medical emergencies does a typical First Aid class cover?
The First Aid class covers care for a variety of different emergencies including Legal/Ethical Concerns, Blood Borne Pathogens, Calling Emergency Medical Services, Scene Management and Patient Assessment, Bleeding and Shock, Burns, Drowning, Injuries to Muscles, Bones and Joints, Allergic Reactions and Respiratory Emergencies, Diabetic Emergencies, Poisonings and Overdoses, Seizures, Strokes, Heat Exhaustion, Hypothermia and a variety of other first aid topics.
