After two years of development Moodle 2.0 is almost complete and expected to be released July 2010.
This will be the biggest ever release for Moodle, which is fast becoming the Virtual Learning Environment of choice for educators across the world. Moodle 2.0 contains a number of core changes to the platform, most of which are designed to allow for more flexibility, scalability and safety.
There are a host of new features that will benefit all those involved in online education. Teachers and students will benefit from the addition of a new Community Hub. This will create a worldwide Moodle course network allowing educators to find and download other teacher’s course templates as well as giving learners access to courses on a wide variety of subjects.
New course organisation features include the ability to track student progress and the addition of a new concept called conditional activities. The conditional activities feature will allow restrictions to be set on chosen activities until certain criteria have been fulfilled.
Among the many benefits to administration will be improvements related to guest access, course enrolments, metacourses and groups.
