Last year the recession resulted in parents throughout Berkshire losing their jobs and, consequently, their need for a nanny. Now, with Britain finally edging itself out of a recession, Berkshire finds itself with a nanny shortage.
Jenny Bohan of Reading's Elite Childcare Agency has seen enquiries for nannies double during February, with demand far outweighing supply.

Families are particularly looking for qualified Nannies for full and part time positions. If you're considering a career in childcare, Jenny's advice is:

• Apply to an agency, even if the job they are advertising is not perfect for you, jobs change daily and parents are often looking for a quick start, so the sooner you apply to the agency the sooner you will have a job.
• Be flexible in your availability (days and hours)
• Consider a variety of different jobs.
• Dress smartly for the interview and make sure you are punctual.
