Trenton, NJ-Trenton based developers the DeRosa Group is spearheading the revitalization efforts of the historic homes in the city. One of several properties purchased by the group has been restored and upgraded which made the home very appealing to one particular purchaser. Opting not to use a realtor to sell the home, the DeRosa group placed ads on the free online marketplaces, such as Craigslist utilizing VFlyer. Mariann Cook with her husband Tyrone Palmer from Oklahoma City saw the pictures of the home on Craigslist and was very impressed. The six bedroom three and a half bath home boasts of refinished hardwood flooring, a third floor, and two refurbished and converted fireplaces.
Mariann discovered the ad on Craigslist during the renovation period of the home. Wall colors were not picked out nor appliances decided on. Intrigued by the price and the square footage of the home, Mariann decided to give the DeRosa Group a call. Mariann stated, “We looked in Princeton and Lawrenceville but the homes offered were too expensive for less footage.” The conversation with the DeRosa Group along with the new upgrades and the price of the home made Mariann and Tyrone that more interested in the home. The DeRosa Group made a walkthrough video of the home for the family to view from their home in Oklahoma.
With a new job at Rider University as Professor of Musical Theatre Voice, relocating to a new state, and new home, Mariann and Tyone were making a huge life change. Mariann stated that, “the DeRosa Group bent over backwards for us and treated us fairly.” Coming from a rural to an urban environment and still wanting the amenities of a large home, Mariann was pleasantly surprised to find those elements in this home. The home is 4,000sq, and has a big yard like in their home in Oklahoma City.
The DeRosa Group worked closely with the family through the process. “The DeRosa Group was real honest and gave incentives for us to move in,” says Mariann. The family was given the opportunity to add their personal touch to the property. The family chose all of the wall colors, appliances, and fixtures. Additional incentives include three points for closing, the entire home upgraded, and the family was able to move in and rent the home before officially closing on it. “The home is a reflection of us,” says Mariann.
The projects that DeRosa is working on are restoring the pride in Trenton and helping to propel the city forward. "We are proud of the work at Fisher Place as it is a statement to our commitment to historic preservation. Trenton has such a large inventory of interesting properties; it is very fulfilling to play a part in bringing them back to their original grandeur” says Matt Faircloth, President of the DeRosa Group. This is the 6th project of ours in our efforts to restore Trenton's historic assets, with many more to come!"
This project is one of several preservation and restoration projects of the DeRosa Group in Trenton. Their projects attract both residential and business customers to their sites. The DeRosa Group currently converted a vacant building into a business incubator on 354 South Broad St. They are also ramping up their next historic preservation project which will be a restoration of the Weights and Measures building on West Hanover, just 200 yards from the state house. This restoration will include 6 loft style condos which will have many green features, roof top decks, and state of the art amenities. One of their projects in 2007 won the historic preservation award from the City of Trenton.
