The concept of the vision board has been around for many generations. However, there has been a renewal of interest in the idea since it was demonstrated in the documentary, The Secret, by the success expert John Assaraf.
A vision board is a visual representation of your dreams. The things you want to have, or to achieve. Its purpose is to activate the law of attraction in your life and to pull things from your external environment that will enable you to realize your dreams.
Whilst putting the board together, you will feel happy, and you will also feel excitement and passion, and then you will start to manifest these things in your life.
The whole exercise began for me, when I was given a page out of a marketing training manual, on which to write the top 100 things that I want to do with my life. I sat to write and got to #20. Then I realized that my vision was not big enough. I returned to it a few days later and added a few more items.
It was then that I caught myself imagining having and being a product of, the items on my list. I smiled to myself and at that instant, I got it!
My next step was to create a vision board.
I started collecting photographs of the things I wanted to achieve. I wrote out my mission statement and my daily positive affirmations. As my board began to take shape, my children, who looked on in curious amazement, began to understand the process, and soon the whole family became a part of the vision. Being my children, their wants are also a part of my board, and the excitement was unanimous.
No matter what circumstance you find yourself in, you must have a vision of a better future!
The Bible says, "Without vision, my people perish".
The Law of Attraction states that whatever we give our attention to, whether positive or negative, this is what we attract into our lives.
When creating your personal vision board, you must be sure that it contains these 4 elements.
It must be visual. Use as many pictures and images as possible. Supplement these with words that stimulate an emotional response from within you.
It must evoke emotion. The mere sight of it should fuel your passion to achieve.
