Granite State Derby Girls Give Blood On And Off The Track

NH Roller Derby teams up with the American Red Cross for a successful blood drive.

March 7, 2010 - PRLog -- New Hampshire Roller Derby skaters came out in force to support Saturday’s American Red Cross Blood Drive held at the Donation Center in Manchester.

The league helped the Red Cross collect 37 units of blood, 12 of which were donated by NHRD skaters. Donors received coupons for NHRD’s home season opener against NJ’s Garden State Rollergirls on April 24th at JFK Memorial Coliseum in Manchester.

After successful work with the Red Cross during their 2009 season, the league looks forward to sponsoring additional events with the international aid organization.
“We wanted to work with the Red Cross because they affect so many people all over the world,” says Bit O’ Honey, NHRD’s Charities Director. Blood donation, she says, “makes a pretty big impact in not a lot of time.”

As a non-profit organization, any profits are donated to area charities. In addition to the American Red Cross, NHRD plans to focus their energies on two additional local organizations for the 2010 season.
