You know all those naughty taggers who create super-complicated, colorful graffiti `vandalism’ artworks you see perched way up on freeway overpasses, bridges and sound-retaining walls?
How do they get up there? They climb. They climb with cans of spray-paint in large backpacks while balancing on a 4-inch ledge while not looking at the 50 plus foot drop.
Just that fact alone is reason to believe that no other artform has more passionate practitioners. No other devotees of an Original American Art Form are as universally reviled, punished, arrested, incarcerated, fined, injured or killed.
A company called ArtStorm does programs for these `vandal-artists.’
One of those programs is ArtStorm Art Leasing. Companies are offered an art leasing package of up to five canvases or more for a small quarterly charge. They can order custom artworks to match their carpet if they want.
The ArtStorm Art Leasing package is growing in popularity. The effort in Pasadena is being duplicated across Central, South, West and East Los Angeles. More and more corporate interiors are recognizing their walls need large, vivid, really cool aerosol artworks.
Aside from providing a social benefit, the ArtStorm Art Leasing package is a low-cost, sensible alternative to traditional art leasing where you can get tapped for thousands of dollars before you know it. You even have to buy insurance for those artworks.
ArtStorm Art Leasing charges a fraction of that. They don’t require insurance, they assume all damages or risk of destruction to the art. They also install it for you.
If more people signed up for the ArtStorm Art Leasing program, more vandists would get work, less taxpayer money would be spent on punishment or abatement and LA Officials might start getting closer to intelligent solutions to the tagging issue.
That last part is doubtful. But that’s ok. Giving artists free supplies to create magnificent treasures of art for all to see is reward enough for the people at ArtStorm Art Leasing.
To the thousands of people who hate graffiti artists; think about becoming an ArtStorm Art Leasing client. The few dollars you spend will create more value than you can imagine.
