The West Covina Symphony Orchestra is proud to present "Sylvia Lee Mann & Friends", the third concert of it's "Artist Series ~ Sonic Tapestries" Chamber Music concerts,
Violist/Composer Dr Sylvia Lee Mann (Music Director and Conductor of the West Covina Symphony Orchestra), has invited several musical friends to join her in this delightful third chamber music concert of the 2009-2010 season. Joining her for this concert are Mary Au, piano; Paul Baker, harp; Laura Bilodeau, percussion; Julia Heinen, clarinet; and Richard Kravchak, oboe;
The concert will take place at the West Covina United Methodist Church on March 14, 2010 at 4:00 pm. These artists are known for their “virtuosity, artistry, passion and individuality”
The program includes:.
Suite for Viola and Chamber Orchestra (Piano), Group I, by Ralph Vaughan Williams
The Goda Suite for Viola, Oboe, Harp and Percussion, by Sylvia Lee Mann
Trio for Clarinet, Viola and Piano in E-flat, K.498 “Kegelstatt”
Doppler Effect for Oboe, Viola and Piano or Harp, by Adrienne Albert
Selections from “The Quiet Path” for Harp (and cello or viola), by Paul Baker
Traditional Celtic Selections for Viola and Harp
Two Rhapsodies for Oboe, Viola and Piano, by Charles Martin Loeffler
Of special interest about this concert is the unique adventure of featuring works by three living, award winning composers: Adrienne Albert, Paul Baker, and Sylvia Lee Mann. All three composers will be in attendance Two (Paul Baker and Dr. Mann) are performers as well, and Adrienne Albert will be present for the performance of her work, "Doppler Effect".
