March 5, 2010 - PRLog -- - On March 25th the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Northern California Section will inaugurate its new headquarters with a ribbon cutting ceremony. USTA NorCal recently purchased a building in its hometown of Alameda, located at 1920 North Loop Rd. The celebration of an acquisition that was being planned for over 20 years, will take place between 2:00 and 4:00pm, with refreshments and tours of the facility. Mayors of surrounding cities, representatives of local Chambers of Commerce, and other Bay Area sports organizations will be invited, along with the USTA National Board, current and past board Presidents, and member organizations.

Founded in the Bay Area over 60 years ago, the USTA NorCal has grown exponentially and with it, the need for more space. “Everyone wanted to stay in Alameda because of its central location to the majority of our members and staff. Purchasing a building was always a consideration; the recent drop in real estate prices made it a possibility,” said Steve Leube, USTA NorCal Executive Director. “Now that we have this new home that is ours, the expectation is that we’ll be here ‘forever’.”

USTA NorCal Board President, Margie Peterman directed numerous studies to determine the most suitable location, polled employees and considered partnerships with tennis clubs. The result was the purchase of the new building that has 8100 square feet in the Harbor Bay Business Park of Alameda. The increased space provides enough room to hold full board meetings and other large training meetings and events.

Past President and Building Committee member, Gary Lee said, “We were looking for our own office some 20+ years ago when I was President.  It's been a continuous search and finally a reality!”

USTA NorCal is an organization that not only supports the sport of tennis, but also local communities.
