March 5, 2010 - PRLog -- St. Petersburg, Russia, Moscow, Russia, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 5 March 2010 - International network, co-location and hosting services provider Linxtelecom and Engineering Company Sunline today announced the building expansion progress on the St.Petersburg Data Centre. In the course of the project, as a result of the high demand of quality Data Centre space, Linxtelecom decided to expand the amount of racks and its power supply from 1 MVA to 3 MVA. In addition to this, Linxtelecom also decided to upgrade its Data Centre standards from TIER 2 to TIER 3. This upgrade in capacity and in the quality standard needed additional re-designing (power setup, construction works). This has led to the launch date of the Data Centre being extended.

Considerable progress has been made in moving the project forward. The preliminary design has been completed and the UPS equipment, airco units, structured cabling system, raised floor and diesel generators are now on site ready to be installed. The first network route from the Data Centre to the Borovaya access point is up and running and the second route is planned to be operational within a month. Diverse network routing has from that moment been established. Preparation works at the first floor will be on-going to optimize the placement of electrical back-up facilities.

Rene Vennik, Director Data Centers of Linxtelecom states: “By increasing the amount of power and space we are able to operate more flexibly to match our customer demand. The upgrade from TIER 2 to TIER 3 standards enables us to adequately provide our customers with the higher level of service.”

Linxtelecom has appointed engineering company Sunline Engineering as its General Designer. Sunline Engineering’s core speciality is constructing and managing Data Centres. Sunline works in close cooperation with Linxtelecom’s experienced local project managers, technical architects and Data Centre specialists.

As General Designer of the St. Petersburg Data Centre project, Sunline is responsible for the overall design of the full Data Centre. This includes supervising the architecture and technical requirements relating to cooling, electrical and construction designs.

Fedor Klimenko, Head of Project Department of Sunline states: “We are pleased to be involved in a Data Centre project such as this. Not only do we find the breadth of the project impressive but also the facilities and equipment advanced. This project doesn’t merely involve setting up its infrastructure but require in-depth development of facilities built to meet today’s advanced technology and incorporate high security requirements required of a TIER 3 or higher Data Centre”.

Anticipated completion date is now scheduled for quarter two 2010.
